Presidents Message

Our biggest event of the year is rapidly approaching. On April 16 &17 we will be hosting our 44th Annual Real Estate Finance Conference in Milwaukee. This is the largest fundraising event of the year and helps support many of the other outings throughout the year.  There are many different packages and sponsorship/exhibitor opportunities available. The WMBA Executive board hopes you will join us and we encourage your colleagues to come and support housing finance in Wisconsin.

See you in April!

Legislative Update - George Klaetsch

As the State Legislature is entering their final month of the 2017-18 legislative session, I wanted to provide WMBA membership with the diverse legislation the WMBA Legislative Committee and I have been working on the past fifteen months as well as the status of each proposal.  We look forward to providing you with a more thorough update at the WMBA Spring Conference.

We had over 60 people attend our Winterfest event Thursday January 25, 2018. Everyone had a great time. Our bowling event set for Thursday March 15, 2018 is almost filled with bowlers. Therefore if you plan to bowl you better get your team registered. Please note: for only $15.00 non-bowlers can attend and enjoy the fun.. We’re looking for many, many valuable items for the auction so we can show strong financial support for Ronelle Escher’s needs and the Goodman Center. It will help if we have a large turnout for this event.

Plans for the golf outing on Thursday May 17, 2018 are moving along nicely. Specifics covering this event will be coming out shortly.

Remote Online Notarization

The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) and the American Land Title Association (ALTA) have collaborated to prepare model legislation that would provide the framework for any state to adopt an remote online notarization process. This model legislation was developed with input from an ad-hoc task force of MBA and ALTA members and was also exposed for comment to MBA's Legal Issues and Regulatory Compliance Committee, MBA's State Legislative and Regulatory Committee and also ALTA committees. Additionally, key policy makers and other independent groups provided input. Both MBA and ALTA are working with their member companies and state and local association partners to advocate for the provisions of this model.
