Wisconsin Mortgage Bankers Association
Education Foundation
The WMBEF was founded in 1991 with 18 former WMBA Board Presidents as a legacy to the Mortgage Banking Industry.
The group was organized with a mission of education and charitable activities.
The WMBEF exists as a licensed Tax Exempt Charitable Organization.
The WMBEF included among the organization's state purposes.
- To promote, conduct, acquire, and create educational activities for the mortgage banking industry.
- To encourage, recruit, and promote advancement by minorities in the real estate finance industry.
- To provide scholarship funds to students focusing on real estate finance attending accredited colleges, universities, and technical schools.
Growing from the initial contribution from the WMBA and other personal contributions by the original board members, the WMBEF continues to direct financial capitol to make a difference for future mortgage bankers and the real estate finance industry. Since 1989 over 35 men and women have received scholarships.
In 2001 the Board of Directors made an irrevocable gift to the Greater Milwaukee Foundation to administer the scholarship and funds. They continue to do so under the direction of the WMBEF Board of Directors who retains the ability to offer advice, input, and continued fundraising.
After much planning and discussion, in 2004 the original WMBEF Board of Directors under the leadership of David Krill elected a new board to continue their mission. Dave has agreed to continue on as Chairman, for the foreseeable future, to ensure a smooth transition.
As the new WMBEF Board of Directors, we have committed to taking active ownership of the mission and pledge to continue the fine work invested by the original board.
